Who We Are:
It all started in early 2024, when two young Democratic operatives came together in frustration with the party’s refusal to move past dated tactics. We first tested our technology leading up to the 2024 election, working behind the scenes to gather the nation’s largest focus group of Democratic donors.
We may not have all the answers, but it’s clear that supporters like you feel left out of the process. After the Democrats’ $1.5 billion campaign to beat Trump lost to “concepts of a plan,” we can’t say we blame you.
Now, we’re building our new media platform into the most effective channel to inform and inspire Democratic donors like you.
What We've Done:
Thanks to our focus group of over 30,000 active grassroots Democratic donors like you, we're able to collect feedback on current events and Democratic strategy in real time.
But that's only the beginning — we're building the technology to help donors like you support local campaigns and organizations. The beta of our direct contribution system has raised over $25,000 directly for campaigns.
We also worked with our network of partner organizations to sponsor the No Kings movement. Fueled by a surge in engagement around both the June and October protests, we deployed our technology to share supporter experiences in real time with local and national press.
What We've Learned:
Our focus group was often split on the issues that divide the Democratic Party in the press, but supporters like you overwhelmingly agree that the way Democrats raise money online needs to change.
The most alarming supporter comment we saw was: “I have run up a credit card debt over $20k supporting what I thought was right, and now when I see a candidate that I want to support and see ActBlue, I shut it down because I can't be sure about where it's going.”
The Trump era has seen grassroots donation records broken year after year, but a repeat cycle of false promise has left many supporters feeling drained and exploited.
The result is a state of burnout at a time when the stakes could not be higher. However, the organic energy around protests such as No Kings Day or exciting new candidates like Mallory McMorrow and Zohran Mamdani demonstrate a sustainable way forward.
What's Next:
One of our recent focus groups found that only 38% of our respondents knew we were an independent organization. Instead, many supporters like you think every single message comes directly from ActBlue or the DNC.
Until the press covers how exactly political fundraising works, some organizations will continue to get away with misleading donors. That’s why our most pressing goal is to provoke a national conversation on grassroots fundraising.
From there, we’ll continue to grow the media platform and keep donors like you connected with the campaigns and local organizers who need you most.
